Abstract

Specific symptoms, i.e. chlorosis and withering of growing pooint of IPOMOEA BATATAS in the condition of lower potassium level are found and these symptoms became severe by the low night temperature. The activation analysis shows that the growing point at the Lower potassium level is short of manganese, while magnesium contents make no distinct difference between the lower and higher potassium level. The higher potassium level in IPOMOEA BATATAS stimulates vegetative growth, especially, in the combined condition with low night temperature. The relationship between the specific symptom that is, chlorosis or withering of growing point in lower potassium level and manganese deficiency and the function of potassium for manganese translocation in plant tissue were discussed.
